Add Fixed Stars to your Astrology Process like 1-2-3
Rest assured I follow a proven method. Here's how it looks:
Choose a planet, and allow for year of birth
See the degree location of the planet. Look at your birth year, and minus 08' from all stars' locations for every decade before yr2000. Eg. 1980 is minus 16' from the listed star positions. Approximate accordingly, eg. 1985 would be about -12'. 1940 would be -50. (-84' per century, -42' per 50yrs).
Look in the relevant zodiac sector star list
For example your Neptune is at 10sco09, year of birth 1961 so minus about 33', look up the stars around that degree listed in Scorpio sector (select purple icons above for zodiac sector star listings). You should minus for the birth year the same amount for every star in a chart. So in this example, A-Crux is a star at 11sco57 as of yr2000. For year 1961 birth I'm minusing 33' from the star position, so at birth year it was at around 11sco24. Get it?
Find the stars within 1*30' orb either side of your planet's location
I want the stars that are within 1*30' of the planet (or cusp etc) position that I'm deep diving. For A-Crux (in previous example) since it's a very bright first magnitude star I could allow wider orb, maybe ... When I want to be fussy about it, I google Astrology King astrologer Jamie Partridge for the star (or if not well known the constellation), I can see he allows 2*40' orb for this bright star, which is about maximum. 1*30' is just an easy standard I use. So if I take A-Crux's position for the year 1961, 11sco24, and give a 2*40' orb, that gives an influence as far as 8sco44. I can say that Neptune is on A-Crux in this case. But for a less bright star I would probably go with 1*30'.
